About BUNMA

Builsa North Municipality is one of the thirteen (15) Municipal and District Assemblies in the Upper East Region of Ghana.  It lies between longitudes 10 05’ West and 10 35’ West and latitudes 100 20’ North and 100 50’ North.  It is bounded to the North and East by the Kassena-Nankana West District Assembly and Kassena-Nankana Municipal Assembly respectively. The West and South on the other hand are boarded by the Builsa South District Assembly. Builsa North was first created as a District in 1988 from the then Navrongo District by Legislative Instrument 1441 However, LI 2148 replaced the previous LI 1441 in 2012 with the creation of the Builsa South District. Currently, Builsa North has been raised to a municipality status with LI 2422 in 2020. The Builsa North Municipality covers an estimated land area of 824 km2 and constitutes about 12.1% of the total land area of the Upper East Region.
